Before jumping into the online application, aspirants must ensure they tick all eligibility boxes. Educational Qualification? A Graduation degree in any discipline will do. Even professionals like Engineers, Doctors, and Chartered Accountants are elgible! But remember, your college must be recognized by the Govt. of India. Work Experience? At least one year of officer-level experience in a Scheduled Commercial Bank or Regional Rural Bank (RRB).
NBFCs, Co-operative banks, and FinTech companies won’t count here. Age Limit? You must be between 21 and 30 years as on 01.07.2025, with relaxation provided as per govt norms for reserved categories. Don’t forget – language proficiency is key! You should be fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the local language of the state you’re applying for. Failing to meet even one of these criterias might lead to disqualification.
This time, the Bank is hiring state-wise, and you can only apply for one state. Among the top recruiters are Gujarat (1160), Karnataka (450), Maharashtra (485), and Odisha (60). Smaller states like Sikkim (3) and Mizoram (4) also have limited seats. Reservations are applicable as per Govt. norms for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PWD categories.
Keep in mind, once you apply for a particular state, you will be posted there for 12 years, or until your promotion to SMGS-IV grade. No transfers during this period unless exceptional cases arise. If you’re trying to submit multiple forms for different states—think again! Only the latest valid application will be considered. All previous ones will be forfeited, including fees. So be double sure before applying!
The selection process is tough and mult-layered. First comes the Online Test, consisting of four sections: English, Banking Knowledge, General/Economic Awareness, and Reasoning & Quantitative Aptitude. Each section carries 30 marks and the entire test lasts 120 minutes. You must score 40% (General/EWS) or 35% (Reserved) in each section to qualify.
There’s a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer – so guess work might cost you! After that, shortlisted candidates face a psychometric test, followed by Group Discussion (GD) and/or Personal Interview (PI). Also, language proficiency test is mandatory unless you studied the state’s local language in 10th or 12th grade. The entire process is aimed at filtering only the most suitable candidates with sales drive, field capability, and compliance knowledge.
Once selected, you’ll be joining as a Local Bank Officer (JMG Scale I) with a strong focus on field sales, customer acquisition, and relationship management. You’ll be responsible for onboarding new customers, cross-selling bank products (debit/credit cards, loans, insurance, etc.), and driving digital adoption. The role involves door-to-door canvassing, tie-ups with local businesses, and regularly meeting monthly & quarterly sales targets. You’ll be expected to maintain data records, coordinate with backend teams, and handle field visits for lead conversion.
It’s a high-pressure, target-oriented role that demands mobility, motivation, and excellent people skills. If you’re someone who enjoys fieldwork and has strong knowledge of your local market, this position might be tailor-made for you. But beware – performance expectations are high and targets are non-negotiable!
The salary is quite attractive. As a JMG Scale-I Officer, you’ll receive a basic pay of ₹48,480 – ₹85,920, plus one advance increment if you have relevant prior experience. There are also other perks like DA, HRA, special allowances, etc. However, selected candidates must sign a 3-year service bond worth ₹5 Lakhs. Leaving early? You’ll need to pay that amount along with taxes. Also, don’t ignore the credit history requirement—your CIBIL score should be at least 680, and candidates with loan defaults or negative records will be disqualified. The probation period is 12 months, and performance during this period will decide your long-term career with the bank. Be ready for field work, travel, and high expectations from Day 1.
Applying is easy but precision is key. Visit Bank of Baroda Careers Page and fill out the online application form. Upload all required documents – including your photo, signature, resume, certificates, and CIBIL report, if possible. The application fee is ₹850 for General/EWS/OBC and ₹175 for SC/ST/PWD/Women/ESM. Make sure your email and mobile number are active till the end of the process. Remember to print your application and payment receipt after submitting. Don’t wait till the last date – the website might get crowded! Typing errors, incomplete uploads, or wrong document formats can lead to automatic rejection. Read all instructions carefully. Ensure you choose the correct state, upload a clear photo, and meet all criteria before clicking submit.
